Heh, it's one of those blind items again ...
Got this off an email:

"This television guy is both a familiar name and familiar face. He's been involved in many high-profile appearances, and is currently part of a television ensemble. It may come as a surprise to you that he drinks. Not just an after-work cocktail, mind you, but a beers-for-breakfast kind of drinker. He always comes to work prepared, but – depending on how many beers he has had – sometimes slurs his lines so badly or races through his lines so fast that he needs additional takes. Oh, and sometimes his scenes have to be re-blocked so that he is sitting down rather than standing up, because he sways too much. We haven't heard of him doing any high-profile stints in rehab, but we do wonder what's taking him so long."

The sender of said email (who has asked to remain anonymous and I'm respecting their wishes) says, "Doesn't Carmine Giovinazzo often slur his lines or sound unintelligible? He also tends to noticeably sway when he's standing in a scene, and is often the guy sitting down in a group scene. I heard also that he wanders around during filming. It holds up work and everyone has to wait for him just to resume filming. Doesn't sound like he's all there."

Well, blind items are usually so vague they can pretty much refer to any number of actors in Hollywood. Even with the clue 'currently part of a television ensemble', it could still mean anyone. And uhm, in this case I'm glad to say it, I don't think Carmine is anywhere close to being a familiar name/face in comparison to other actors on other much more popular shows. And also, has he ever had any high-profile appearances? And uh, I've yet to ever hear about him being in any sort of rehab ... but then again, I am so out of the fandom, I dunno anything going on anyway.

If it's somebody from CSI:NY (which I doubt), the first few clues seem to fit Gary Sinise more! :P

True, but I don't think Gary's much of a drinker in public or in private. I saw a picture of him one time where apparently it was at some sort of crew party because his drink was in a graduated cylinder, and he was standing straight up but he was so beer-flushed it was ridiculous. I might be able to find it again...

There we go. http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/atmaUM-NYsZeI-6LQayiNQ19109/GW200H193

So if he was drunk on-set, we'd notice. No amount of makeup or acting skills can hide THAT look.

... Wow. That's, actually, vaguely frightening.

I don't buy it - while a few characteristics might fit an actor from NY, there are a few characteristics that would fit a lot of the actors on TV. And you're right about the 'high profile' bit - does anybody know who Carmine is that doesn't watch NY?

Hmm. TBH, the first name that I thought of was George Eads from LV.

I heard that part of the reason he "missed" the first day of filming during Season 5 of LV was because he was blotto, and that it's been pretty much an open secret that he drinks like a fish, and has for a long ass time.

Still, it could be anyone from any show. I don't recall Eads having made too many appearances lately or being a familiar face, ditto with Carmine.

Honestly, it would not surprise me whoever it is, simply because all the Hollywood hoopla and crazy shooting schedules make for some hours that will make your head spin.

Well, I'd consider Eads a familiar face for most people since LV was the first to go big...but the high profile bit?? That I wouldn't get with any of them. Blind items are generally vague for a reason. Hell, it's the same crap with fortune cookies; some are bound to come true.

I really don't think Eads is high-profile. I talk to my parents, who watched CSI about "George Eads" and I get the **BlinkBlinkHeadTilt** blankness until I say "The guy who plays Nick Stokes." Same with most of any of the CSI actors/actresses. And they aren't slouches when it comes to knowing who an actor/actress is. The only ones from any of the CSI shows they know are Gary Sinise, and David Caruso. And my dad does know Melina Kanakaredes, but my mom doesn't. And they only vaguely know William Petersen, because he isn't that high-profile. So I really doubt it's actually about anyone from any of the CSI shows.

Obviously, I haven't watched in forever, so I can't say for certain, but I don't think he's a familiar face with anyone that doesn't watch NY in the first place, let alone can I think of anything "high profile" that he's done. And honestly, if it was that bad I'm pretty sure he doesn't have enough star power to get out of going to rehab if producers wanted to force the issue.

Hell, on top of that, as much as I love Gary for things like 'Of Mice and Men' I don't even know if I'd consider him a familiar face these days outside of the fandom.

I'd more likely say it was one of the guys from these comedy shows. They go to the awards and other shows, promos, etc. Carmine is, really, not that well known outside of the CSI people.
Either way. I'd not be surprised at anyone who it would be. Not with the lifestyle and way these guys work out there.
