Happy 4th of July, my American friends!

And courtesy of [info]1perfectanomaly:

A thousand bucks says DL fanits everywhere are already bashing this actress and claiming she's 'unfit to be part of the team'. Without ever saying the real reasons, which are probably along the lines of, "SHE'S TOO PRETTY, SHE'LL TAKE ALL OF LINDSAY'S SCREENTIME AWAY, SHE BETTER NOT REPLACE LINDSAY OR I'LL HAVE NO MORE SELF-INSERT FANTASIES TO DELUDE MYSELF!!!"

Just look at the video's rating. Another fifty bucks says it's all DL fantards rating it low in some nutty hope that TPTB will see it and somehow assume it means the actress is 'bad'. *lmao*

If you ask me, I'd take this lady over Anna Belknap any day. Who's up for a recast of Lindsay's character, hm?

To counter the nasty 'blind item' in the previous post ...

How about a really nice one of kindness which may very well be about the main star of CSI:NY?

This guy is an A list television star and probably B in films he has done. Probably not any higher than B list on name recognition though. Oh, he stars in one of those crime dramas. Anyway, for the past year he has just had his paychecks sent to directly to various charities in the city where he films his show.

It's gotta be him, am I right? What convinced me is the fact that the star in question really wants his identity kept secret, which means he's sincere in his charity. Aw.

Scaaaaandalous!

So I received an email about a 'blind item' at a website called Gawker, which seems to be a popular gossip blog or something:

"This C+/B- very good looking television actor is on a hit network drama. It is one of those law/crime/initial type shows. Anyway, this actor is a one man health epidemic. Our actor found out he has herpes about three months ago. Despite that fact, he never tells any of his prospective male or female mates that, and in fact, tells them the complete opposite and insists on never using condoms. Well, now, two of his conquests are threatening legal action about their brand new STD's. So far our actor has kept things quiet, but with as many people as he sleeps with, keeping it quiet for much longer is going to be very difficult."

'Blind items' have always made me laugh because they could be about pretty much anyone in Hollywood. I guess I got emailed this one because in the comments, Eddie Cahill was mentioned several times as a potential candidate. Yikes!

Personally, I can't see Eddie being the one, what with him seemingly so loyal to his girlfriend and coming across as such as sweet guy in interviews ... but who knows. Hollywood is one seedy place! I don't think anyone can work in Hollywood for long without being corrupted one way or another.

What do you guys think?

OT: From Gay Pride Weekend comes ...

The sweetest picture I've seen all day:

Awwwwwwwwwww. Is that supremely adorable and heartwarming or what? :D

Seeing lovely pictures like this one makes me even more boggled about people who go around claiming gay people can't be good, loving parents. What a load of bull. Gay people are people, like anyone else. There is absolutely no proof that gay people are incapable of being good parents. Just look at that image! I dare you to tell me those two men don't love their babies. >:/

And uhm, is it just me ... or do both gay dads bear striking resemblances to certain well-known actors in Hollywood?! Especially the one on the right!

EDIT: Here's an article entitled 'Gayby Boom: Children of Gay Couples Speak Out at CNN. The first line alone caught my interest: Jesse Levey is a Republican activist who says he believes in family values, small government and his lesbian mothers' right to marry.

That's right, a Republican activist who was brought up by lesbian mothers and supports gay marriage! How cool is that?

CSI:NY gets mentioned on the Colbert Report ...

But it wasn't as a compliment. In this clip about the Republicans' Commonsense Health Care Reform infomercial, Stephen Colbert says that the infomercial was 'beat by a re-run of CSI:NY'.

The telling thing was, the audience laughed about it ... because Colbert was basically saying that the infomercial was so awful, it got trumped in viewing numbers even by a show like CSI:NY. If CSI:NY was doing well like the popular primetime shows these days do (and like TPTB claims it is), the comparison wouldn't have been funny at all since it would be a total, "No, duh," thing for the infomercial to do badly next to it.

Ya know what would be amusing to me? I bet if TPTB heard about their show being mentioned on the Colbert Report, they'd automatically assume it means their show is 'great'. (Or are the current generic in-words 'fun', 'positive' and 'spirited'?) Except Colbert's specialty is to subtly mock people of all sorts for a variety of reasons including their hypocrisy, ignorance, stupidity, arrogance and so forth. Even President Obama gets under direct Colbert fire now and then. So, yes, as much as Hollywood likes to deny it (and they are oh so good at lying to themselves), there is such a thing as bad publicity. And ya just gotta love double-edged mockery Colbert-style. *lol*

P.S. I <3 Stephen Colbert and the Colbert Report. It's so nice that such a fantastic comedy show for intellects and critical thinkers exists.

P.S.S. It's also not the first time a CSI show has been dissed on the Colbert Report. It's happened quite a few times, one of them being a mention of CSI:LV and a subtle mockery of its claim of realism. I should go look for that clip.

OT: 2009 is not a good year for Hollywood celebrities ...

Many iconic figures have passed away this year, and yeah, Michael Jackson's death is the most surprising one yet to me. Nobody saw that one coming, did they, what with him planning a major comeback. Rest in peace, King of Pop, and rest in peace, Farah Fawcett, one of the original blonde beauties of Hollywood.

How about the following for some cheering up: Gay parents talk about their lives pre-parenthood and during parenthood. It's a sweet post that includes heartwarming pictures of the gay parents and their adorable children. I like this one in particular:

In 2000, we participated in the Millennium March On Washington and was able to walk with Ellen DeGeneres. On our way to the HRC's Equality Rocks concert, we noticed members of the Westboro Baptist Church, and other anti-gay groups, picketing with their "God Hates Fags" signs. Chris and I jumped over the yellow caution tape that was holding them back, and in front of media cameras everywhere, stunned - and angered - the protester by embracing and kissing. Now that's a way to come out of the closet.

That takes some serious cajones, man.

Is anyone in the least bit surprised?

Question: I read that they are casting for a new female CSI on CSI NY. Any info on if this is a replacement or an addition? In other words, is someone not returning in September? --Kate

Ausiello: I can tell you that it's not a replacement for either Anna Belknap or Melina Kanakaredes. Both are officially returning next season. Not sure about the rest of the cast.

A while after making the previous post, I thought to myself, "Dude, you are giving TPTB way too much credit for brains here. And waaaaay too much credit for integrity. Worst case scenario, remember?"

So yeah, I've been expecting this. The worst case scenario is that the new female character is an addition, Hawkes, Adam and Flack will be severely shafted this new season and it's going to be all about ~*relashunship dramaz*~. You know what disappoints me the most about the situation? If no one's leaving and they pull in a new regular, TPTB's turned Emmannuelle Vaugier into a total liar and publicly slapped her in the face. >:( She deserves so much better than that.

My condolences to intelligent people still giving this show their time. TPTB is truly undeserving of your support. To be honest, I don't understand why such mediocre, two-faced, lying hacks still get any, period - Oh wait, I forgot, the fanits don't give a fuck about TPTB or the show. They only give a fuck about getting their kicks and enacting a pathetic fantasy with their TV boyfriend via a talentless woman who can't even do her job. I dunno who to pity more, TPTB for being such blatantly insecure, hypocritical and validation-seeking ignoramuses or the fantards they pander to for being exactly the same breed of idiot.

Oh, ya know what, the above I mentioned isn't the worst case scenario ... worst case scenario is that the new character ends up replacing Danny, Hammerback or Adam and TPTB pairs her up with one of the remaining guys. What you say? It'd be a breach of NYPD policy? Flack just lost Angell in the worst possible way and couldn't possibly be interested in another woman? Danny's married to Lindsay and can't possibly be interested in any other woman? Mac only has eyes for Stella?

Heh. Dudes, this is TPTB we're talking about. These lousy hacks' idea of 'great writing' is our idea of 'ridiculous bullshit'. Guess my motto on them is true as always: When ya think they can't sink any lower, they just do.

More info on the new female CSI character ...

Courtesy of the lovely [info]faylinn_drake, from her LJ post on the matter:

To cast Kaye Sullivan, they provided three scenes: Natalie Greer (the DA from "Enough" that talked to Mac about the girl's testimony), Lindsay's Monologue of Doom and Peyton talking about the mummy when Mac came to her about the bruises/temperature fluctuations in "Not What it Looks Like".

So, did anyone else notice Lindsay is the only main female character to pop up on the list of provided scenes? The other two female characters are recurring ones who no longer appear on the show.

Now why would TPTB pick the Lindsay Monologue of Doom to test the actress' acting skill and not any particular emotional scene featuring Stella (and you know she's had many good ones throughout the entirety of the show)? Hmmmmmm.

DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN

Remember this post about a spoiler for Without a Trace? Ya know, the spoiler where a WaT fan was wondering how the hell two main characters can get married and continue working together since it's directly against policy? (Smart fan, that one.) Now lookee this ...

Courtesy of [info]jetpack_angel: Without a Trace has been canceled.

Yep, that's right, CBS has canceled Without a Trace and is only 'keeping it as back-up'. Talk about falling from grace, eh? Just imagine being a long-time fan only to find out your show's nothing more to TPTB than a 'back-up' in case of craptastic new shows being released and crashing.

Makes you wonder if CBS is gonna pull the same stunt with CSI:NY too, it being the second spin-off of the CSI franchise and technically doing the worst out of the three since, oh ya know, the very beginning. They already killed off one character for budget's sakes, and it seems they might be killing off another one in the season six premiere. Of course, if that one is replaced by a new regular character then the only budget save the show will accomplish is paying one less recurring character. (The new regular may be paid less though, so maybe they'll be saving money anyway.)

Hmm. Wouldn't surprise me if season six is the make-or-break for the show. TPTB's talk about more DL ~*dramaz*~ and them seemingly determined to bring more of it to the yard the coming season could not be happening at a worst time. If it's anything like episode 5x24 ... my condolences to everyone. Seriously. (But, if it's Lindsay who kicks the bucket in the premiere and this new regular character doesn't turn out a horrible Mary Sue like her ... there may be hope yet.)
